STOMATAS
Expressive Plants And Bio-feedback

This is an experiential project that significantly enhanced user experience. It’s rarely known that 99.7% of biomass are plants but humans tend to ignore the presence of plants according to the theory of Plant Blindness.
Plants actually are self-aware have incredible abilities to perceive their environment with great sensitivity and subtlety. I analyzed how factors like light and temperature will influence on stomata, which were translated into stomata data and eventually was translated into plants’ responses and expressions with Arduino and TouchDesigner. By multi-sensory combination of touch, hearing and smell, the experiential installation enhances people's sense of engagement and novelty, and improves their understanding of plants and nature from a new perspective.

Psychological Support Service Design
for Teenagers

I have experienced the difficulties and confusion caused by psychological problems as a student, coupled with the lack of understanding and empathy of psychological problems in Chinese society, I wanted to work on alleviating the psychological problems of young Chinese students and drawing the attention of the elders. In particular, this design outcome can accompany teenagers during acute anxiety or panic attacks by popping up a mindful yoga interface and contacting the parents at the same time.

Monitoring Dashboard for Vulture Conservation and Rescue

This project was inspired by news reports of the endangered vulture species. Given the contrast between the 'ugly' image of the vultures and the importance of scavenger roles they play, I felt the need to do something to draw attention to and protect vultures.
This system explores and uses vultures’ natural characteristics such as scavenging to make a significant contribution to the detection of poaching and the control of infectious diseases, ultimately creating a win-win system based on tracking and saving vultures that achieves a delicate balance between nature and humans.

Foot Devices VR Motion Sickness

This project was inspired by the problems experienced by friends surrounding me. Virtual Reality is playing an increasingly important role in the future of work, school and life. However, the VR motion sickness is a very common and serious problem which gives bad experience for users. In order to improve user experience, we designed a set of wearable VR foot devices, which has haptic simulation of vibration feedback and allows users to have small movements when wearing these devices. Subsequently, the inertial motion capture system will capture this tendency of moving, amplify and present it in VR. Users will feel acceleration in the same direction in both worlds and the sickness will be alleviated.

Shared Equipment for Intestinal Health

The field of intestinal flora research is an emerging and promising area in modern times. With the increasing number of studies to demonstrate gut flora is related closely with various diseases, the development of testing methods is important as well. I cooperated with students from Medical School of Sun Yat-sen University and did research deeply and thoroughly based on the data from hospitals attached to my university. Instead of the invasive and scary traditional way of sampling, I designed an unobtrusive test tubes to take samples, making the process more acceptable and tolerable. Combining the study of gut flora, this device can encourage people to development a new healthy lifestyle in everyday life.
